Title A NUMERICAL APPROACH ON LOAD SHARING ANALYSIS AND OPTIMIZATION OF BOLTED JOINT EFFICIENCY
AuthorsG.S.Shivashankar,S.Vijayarangan
CategoryPhysics, Astronomy
AbstractThe major design issue remains in progressing from the “coupon” strengths measured in these tests to bolted joints in different applications. A numerical method is used for the approximate determination of a multiple “bolted” joints loaded in tension and C code is developed for the same. Comparing with experimental results show that the method can be used as a first approximation for design purposes. In this failure analysis shearing effect, bending effect and bearing effect were considered. Effects of width/diameter ratio (w/d) and edge/diameter ratio (e/d) on failure load were estimated numerically and experimentally on A and C type joints of glass-fiber/epoxy composite laminates. The different stages of an analysis from plain hole to multi-row bolted joints consisting of ...

AuthorsP.Subburaj, N.Sudha, K.Rajeswari, Dr.K.Ramar and Dr.L.Ganesan
CategoryIT and Computing
AbstractReactive Power Dispatch (RPD) is one of the important tasks in the operation and control of the power system. RPD problem can be formulated as a non-linear constrained optimization problem. This paper presents a Genetic Algorithm (GA) approach for solving the reactive power dispatch problem including the line flow constraint. Minimizations of real power loss with FACTS and without FACTS devices are the objectives of this reactive power optimization problem. The proposed algorithm has been applied to find the optimal reactive power control variables in IEEE 30 and IEEE 118-bus systems. The simulation results are promising and show the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed approach.

Title TEMPERATURE IMPACT ON THE DEFORMATION OF ROOTS HAIRS with Rhizobium - INOCULATED PEA (Pisum sativum L.) SEEDLINGS
AuthorsLyudmila E. Makarova, Vadim N. Nurminsky
CategoryChemistry
Abstract Using light microscopy methods we monitored the response of root hairs (deformations) in pea (Pisum sativum L.) seedlings grown at 22 and 8 ?Ń, 24 hours after inoculation by the bacteria Rhizobium leguminosarum bv. viceae. There were noticed differences between the roots grown at different temperatures – they manifested different deformation degree (twists, bends, etc.). It was suggested that inhibition of pea roots infection by nodular bacteria at lower temperature was caused by the slowed down of growth of both the root itself and root hairs, as well as decelerated increase of root hairs zones.

TitleA FRAMEWORK FOR MINIMIZING LATENCY IN CDN USING URL REQUEST ROUTING APPROACH
AuthorsS.Manikandan, A.Chitra and P.Venketesh
CategoryIT and Computing
AbstractIncrease of web data in recent years is a crisis for distributing and managing the content of a websites. Content Distribution Network (CDN) serves to provide some special solution to these issues. Content Distribution Network maintains large number of replicas to act on behalf of origin servers. The main issues in designing Content Distribution Network are Request routing, Object replication, replication consistency and Server Distribution. Request routing is a familiar technique to progress the accessibility of web sites. It normally minimizes the client latency and increases content availability. This paper presents an exploration on different Request routing approaches and proposes a framework to minimize client latency using URL based request routing method.

TitleA FUZZY BASED FAULT DETECTION SCHEME FOR SYNCHRONOUS GENERATOR
AuthorsV. Duraisamy, N. Devarajan, P.S.Vinoth Kumar, S.N.Sivanandam,D.Somasundareswari
CategoryElectronics, Electrotechnics
Abstract A fuzzy system based inter-turn fault detection scheme for synchronous generator is proposed. The negative sequence components of voltages and currents are used as fault indicators for inter-turn fault detection. The laboratory synchronous generator is used as a test machine to obtain the training data for fuzzy fault detector. The negative sequence voltage and current are obtained from the line voltages and currents and used as inputs for fuzzy fault detector (FFD). The effectiveness of fuzzy fault detector has been analyzed through simulation studies with triangular, trapezoidal and Gaussian membership functions and results are compared. It is observed from the results that the performance of FFD with triangular membership function is better than trapezoidal and Gaussian membership functions.

TitleA Genetic Model for Interference Suppression in DS-CDMA Systems And Performance Comparison with Neural Network Receiver
AuthorsB.Sivakumar S.Krishnan Dr.S.Subha Rani
CategoryIT and Computing
AbstractWe present in this paper a new multi-user receiver using a Genetic Algorithm (GA) based decision scheme for interference suppression in Direct Sequence Code Division Multiple Access Wireless Systems (DS-CDMA). In this work a hybrid approach that employs a GA and Multi-user Detector for the multi-user detection (MUD) problems in CDMA/WCDMA cellular systems is investigated. The proposed GA approach with MUD performs well in the presence of Multiple Access Interference (MAI) under CDMA/WCDMA standard conditions. Cancellation of MAI is the prime concern in our work since it improves the performance of the system with increasing number of users. This paper also compares the performances of MUD using Neural Networks and GA with the standard optimum receiver which is a benchmark for synchronous CDMA systems. Simulation results for these above methods are provided to show that the approach is promising and encouraging. A comparative performance analysis of the four receivers, i.e. conventional, optimum, neural network, and genetic algorithm is carried out by simulations. In all examples considered, the proposed genetic receiver outperforms the neural network receiver.

TitleA New and Novel Image Compression Algorithm Using Wavelet Footprints
AuthorsN. Malmurugan, A. Shanmugam, S. Jayaraman and V. V. Dinesh Chander
CategoryIT and Computing
AbstractWavelet footprint is a new technique that gives parsimonious representation of piecewise polynomial signals. Using wavelet footprints we will able to exploit the inter-dependency of wavelet coefficients across the scales around singularity locations in a signal. In this paper, it is reported that wavelet footprints can be used to represent images as well. We show that the images represented using footprints require fewer coefficients, but still maintains the quality of the image and thus provides a way for compression. The degree of the polynomial and inter-pixel value difference threshold can be selected for possible better minimal representation.

TitleA New design and Performance evaluation of Congestion Based Dynamic TCP Send Buffer Allocation
AuthorsRamachandra V. Pujeri, S. N. Sivanandam
CategoryIT and Computing
AbstractThe network has grown in to a powerful tool in the recent past. The good utilization of resources can cause an immense change in server’s performance. One such valuable resource, which should be optimized, is the TCP Send Buffer[4]. Conventional methods of allocating send buffer waste a lot of server resources and are also inefficient, as they do not consider certain important factors which affect the utilization of the network. The CBD or Congestion Based Dynamic algorithm[5] proposed here tries to achieve an efficient use of the send buffer. It takes into account the important parameters of the transmission such as RTT send rate, maximum buffer size on the receiver’s side. In this algorithm, we set a functional value for each request and the buffer is allocated proportionately. To accomplish this we divide the send buffer space of the server into two segments. The Experimental Segment allocates send buffer for the new entrants temporarily and some time later the request will be swapped to the Processing Segment. This algorithm is capable of handling critical conditions such as congestion, ill-behaved clients since this algorithm is based on the function, which allows congestion control through a passive system such as a send buffer.

TitleA Novel approach for Implementing Security services
AuthorsDr. S. N. Sivanandam, G.R.Karpagam
CategoryIT and Computing
AbstractTo share information in the distributed systems environment, it is necessary to have a secured computing environment. Traditional software Engineering approach has not been successful in the security service development, because of the platform dependency and frequent change in security requirements. Model based software development addresses the problems faced with frequent changes. Model Driven Architectural approach (MDA) helps in achieving platform independence and supports interoperability. In this paper, Meta models are developed for implementing security services in Distributed systems using Generic Modeling Environment. An interpreter is developed to transform independent models to specific and vice versa, thereby achieving round trip engineering. This work helps in developing MDA Components for Security services in new and legacy systems

TitleA NOVEL ARCHITECTURE FOR INDUCTION MOTOR PERFORMANCE ENHANCEMENT USING VHDL
AuthorsB. Hariram Selvamurugan Satheesh, Dr. N. S. Marimuthu, S. Jeevananthan
CategoryElectronics, Electrotechnics
AbstractInduction motors offer a low cost variable speed solution for many motor control applications. Normally in most of the commercial applications the motor is likely to be operated in the partially loaded condition for considerable duration, which results in poor efficiency. For any IM, there will be a unique value of supply voltage for a specific percentage of loading that will give optimum efficiency and hence, the motors may be operated in energy efficient mode for any percentage of loading. In this paper, a controller has been proposed that would produce PWM signals for the inverter to set the optimum voltage to the IM during partially loaded conditions. Since the iron loss is directly proportional to the applied voltage, it gets reduced when the applied voltage is reduced to an optimum value and hence the efficiency of the IM will be increased. This paper presents a general methodology for design and simulation of FPGA controller using hardware description languages. The language used is VHDL. In addition to the energy efficient operation, the proposed FPGA controller also supports few speed control methods of IM. The designed controller is very simple and no such motor control microprocessor is available in the market with above explained features.

TitleA NOVEL ARCHITECTURE FOR VLIW PROCESSOR
AuthorsR. SESHASAYANAN and DR.S.K.SRIVATSA
CategoryIT and Computing
AbstractTechnology has seen the development of processor industry right from micro to the latest Nanotechnology with speed being important criteria. Not much attention has been given to the power required to drive these Integrated Circuits. With gaining popularity in mobile computing, developing mobile processors have gained popularity since these processors possess unique properties like low power consumption and dissipation. This paper aims at designing a low power Very Long Instruction Word (VLIW) processor with built in FFT processor, which uses single clock frequency. This VLIW processor is designed with two modules one for VLIW processor and the other one is Hybrid dynamic voltage scaling module. Using the DVS algorithm the power can be reduced up to 20 to 25 % of normal VLIW processor. The design is simulated and synthesized using Xilinx project Navigator and the report is given in the paper.

TitleA novel FPGA architecture for a reconfigurable Alu
AuthorsP.Karthigaikumar
CategoryIT and Computing
AbstractNo particular application is well supported by a conventional microprocessor, which has a predetermined set of functional units. This is particularly true in highly dynamic areas, such as multimedia, communications and other embedded system. We suggest a hardware, which can be dynamically configured to support any applications. By combining a conventional microprocessor and field programmable gate array (FPGA) reconfigurable logic on one chip, commodity pricing is maintained and yet the same work can effectively support a wide range of applications. The term reconfigurable can be associated with several aspects in the realm of processors. In our proposal, we prefer to use the term reconfigurable as the processor that can be reconfigured for specific applications within a very short time frame using the available modules. In this paper we propose reconfigurable field programmable gate array (FPGA) architecture with a C-based design flow that has the ability to perform computations in hardware coupled with the flexibility of software to increase performance and speed. The architecture exploits the advantages of both parallel and pipelined processing. The dynamically reconfigurable technology involves Multi-Function Processing and Time-Sliced Processing.

TitleA Novel Image Compression Algorithm using Ridgelet Transformation with Modified SPIHT
AuthorsN. Malmurugan, A. Shanmugam, S. Jayaraman, A.R. Abdul Rajak
CategoryIT and Computing
AbstractAn effective image coding technique which involves transforming the image into another domain with Ridgelet function and then quantizing the coefficients with modified SPIHT has been presented in this paper. Ridge functions are effective in representing functions that have discontinuities along straight lines. Normal Wavelet transforms fail to represent such functions effectively. SPIHT has been defined for normal wavelet decomposed images as an embedded quantization process. If the coefficients obtained from Ridgelet transform of the image with more discontinuities along straight lines have to subject to quantization process with SPIHT, the existing structure of the SPIHT should be modified to suit with the output of the Finite Ridgelet Transform (FRIT) . In this paper, a modified SPIHT algorithm for FRIT coefficients has been proposed. The results obtained from the combination of FRIT with modified SPIHT found much better than that obtained from the combination of Wavelet Transform with SPIHT.

TitleA Novel Pole-Placement Controller Design for a Robot
AuthorsI.Hassanzadeh and S.Mobayen
CategoryIT and Computing
AbstractThis research presents a pole-placement method for designing of a feedback controller for a robot. The idea of proposed method is derived from the fact that the internal signals of a feedback control system can be eliminated by executing row operations. The design method can be implemented easily and insightfully on Diophantine equations after choosing proper closed-loop poles. In this paper, a 5-bar-linkage manipulator is considered as a case study and the controller has been designed based on the governing Euler-Lagrange equations on the robot. The superior features of this method are its simplicity and flexibility to apply on various control systems.

AuthorsP.Venkatesh, S.N.Sivanandam, R.Venkatesan
CategoryIT and Computing
Abstract The World Wide Web and Internet has witnessed enormous growth for more than a decade and it has been used to serve users with vast amount of information stored at geographically distributed sites. To alleviate the burden of increasing load on the network infrastructure and on web servers, caching has been considered a viable option. The key problem with caching is providing cache consistency. Content Distribution Network (CDN) is a shared network of servers or caches that deliver content to users on behalf of content providers. In this paper we examine various strategies that have been used to provide cache consistency in CDN for improved performance.

TitleA Simple Algorithm for Minimal Search Data Index: Active Partitioned Data Search Using PVM - Algorithm that battles with delay
AuthorsN. Rajkumar, Dr.S.N. Sivanandam,
CategoryIT and Computing
AbstractIn this paper, we examine the issue of mining association rules among items of a large database of search engines. The mining of association rules can be mapped into the problem of discovering large item sets where a large item set is a group of items which appear in a sufficient number of transactions. The problem of discovering large itemsets can be solved by constructing an index set of itemsets first and then, identifying, within the subdivided set. Generally this is done iteratively for each large Lk itemsets are equally partitioned into Sk subsets. To determine the related data of a searching text each index itemset contains the two candidate keys. One is moral text and another one is key that indicates the subset name where the data is originally located…
